Utah Missionary Photographer- Matthew, Provo City Center Temple

The Daw Family kids don’t go anywhere but crazy places. Jessica went to Russia, Sam went to Iceland, and now Matthew is going to Ghana! I can’t wait to see where Jackson will go when he goes! I asked Matthew how old he was when I first took his pictures and he said he was 12. If I gave any awards to my clients, Matthew would get the most improved smile. Is it weird that I’m proud of his smile?? ‘Cause I totally am! At every single shoot I’ve done with this family it’s been an entire family project to get real smiles from Matthew. BUT this shoot was just he and I there and his smiles are PERFECT! I texted his mom when we were done and told her he smiled perfectly. She replied, “I’m so glad you’ve been able to train him!”

The Daw Family was one of my first ever clients as their daughter, Sara, was one of my best friends in high school. I’ve now shot all their kids senior pictures (minus Jackson who’s not graduated yet), 3 mission shoots, 4 family shoots, and Sara’s wedding. Definitely one of my favorite family’s and most loyal. They saw me through my practicing years and while I was definitely still a beginner.

AND! I want to throw a plug in for Brad, the dad. He’s running for congress! Jason Chaffetz recently resigned and Brad is one of the people now running to take his spot. This family is amazing and Brad definitely is someone we could use in D.C. Visit http://braddawforcongress.com/ to learn more about him. I’d love to see everyone in his district supporting him. I know who I’ll be voting for!

Jason & Emily Engagements, International Peace Gardens

Jason and Emily not only had their first date at the Peace Gardens but their very first date was exactly 1 year previous to the day we did their engagement shoot. It was super perfect and sentimental! I LOVE stories like this. It gave me all the heart eyes to hear. Sometimes the weather report is right on and sometimes it’s way off. This was one of those days where it was off. That morning I woke up to an inch of snow on my lawn so I immediately looked at the hourly report and it looked like it was going to be perfectly fine by the evening. As I left my house to meet them for their shoot it was sunny and nice. By the time I got to the location it was rainy, dark, windy, and cold. The first thing I asked them was, “How adventurous are you??” They were totally game. I LOVE MY COUPLES! The first few poses I had them in was rainy and then snowy. Then it stopped and was just cloudy and a bit cold. But I’m glad we stuck it out because I LOVE to shoot in overcast light. It’s beautiful and even and perfect. I noticed Emily’s ring was green so I asked her what kind of stone it was. She said it is a green sapphire. I didn’t even know that was a thing! I love when my brides have unique rings. These 2 are super cute and completely down to earth. I loved getting to know them and can’t wait to shoot their bridals and wedding. (I also can’t wait to see her dress because she’s having it custom made for her!)

Peter & Brianna Wedding- Draper Temple, North Hampton House

When you set your wedding date for April 28, you prepare yourself for the possibility of rain, but not for a BLIZZARD!! The week leading up to their wedding as I watch the weather (I watch the weather far more than the average person) and saw it was supposed to snow. I texted Bri about it and she was so chill about it and took it casually. And when the weather was right and there was a blizzard at the temple when she came out she was still so happy! Out of all the places I’ve shot weddings, the Draper LDS Temple is by far the place I’ve shot with the worst/craziest weather. I loved spending the day with these 2 and am completely jealous of their honeymoon location- GREECE! But I guess they deserved a warm vacation after they froze to death on their wedding day.

My 7.5 month old has become super clingy to me the last few weeks and has made editing and blogging muuuuuch more time consuming. This blog post took me literally all day to put together because I only had a few minutes here and there until my husband came home from work. But non-the-less, here it is! AND it is Gerardo and Kasaundra’s 1 month anniversary today so everyone should wish them a happy 1 month anniversary! In their bridals post I told you about the significance of Kasaundra’s dress and said I’d tell you about the significance of her wedding ring in this post. Both of Gerardo’s parents have passed away and Kasaundra never got to meet either of them. But Gerardo gave Kasaundra his mom’s wedding ring set so she gets to have a piece of his mom with her always. I think this is so sweet and the perfect companion in their wedding to her heirloom dress as well! This wedding was wonderful. Filled with the sweetest family members and friends of the couple that you could truly tell loved them. I hope looking through these you can see the love everyone had for each other! Also, I wanted to wish all mom’s a happy Mother’s Day, yesterday!

Colorado Family Photographer- Norris Family, Hudson Gardens

The Norris Family flew me out to Denver to do Sarah’s first year pictures and their family pictures. Poor little Sarah got super sick and was hospitalized on her birthday, just the day before this shoot. You can’t tell in the pictures though because she was a happy girl. I’m also these kids’ aunt so it was super fun to be able to do their pictures. I absolutely adore Matthew’s faces in some of these especially. Enjoy!

California Bridal Photographer- Gerardo & Kasaundra, Scripps Pier and Windansea Beach

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was do this shoot. I’ve dreamt of doing bridals on the beach for 7 years! I met up with Gerardo for their first look and got to talk to him for a while before Kasaundra came and learned how they met. Kasaundra was giving a talk in church and Gerardo was captivated by her. He was dating someone at the time but it sounds like they hit it off pretty fast. I also learned that Kasaundra’s wedding dress was her grandma’s! It fit her perfectly and she loved it so she made it her own! I love this! The most perfect “Something Old” AND “Something borrowed”. On their wedding post I’ll share another super sweet and sentimental item of their wedding.
